Woman who served time in jail for deadly crash pleads guilty to DWI

WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Buffalo woman who served time in jail for vehicular manslaughter pleaded guilty Thursday to DWI and leaving the scene of an accident.

On New Year’s Day, Audra Sandy, 40, struck a parked car in the driveway of a West Seneca home. She fled the scene after her vehicle jumped a curb and struck a second parked car. While fleeing, she hit a pylon and a street sign and her car ended up in a parking lot, where she got out and walked to a tavern.

Sandy was convicted of a vehicular manslaughter in 1998, in Genesee County, when she drove drunk and crashed into the corner of a house. Her passenger passed away. She was also convicted of DWI in 2006.

She will be sentenced for the New Year’s Day crash at a later date.
