Amherst police officer involved in crash

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two people, including an Amherst Police officer, were taken to the hospital Friday morning after an early morning crash on Niagara Falls Boulevard.

Captain Patrick McKenna says an officer was making a U-turn in the area of 2065 Niagara Falls Boulevard around 5:45 a.m. when the officer’s cruiser collided with a 2007 Toyota. Both cars were heading north at the time of the crash, according to McKenna.

The officer was treated and released at ECMC. The other driver was taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital for evaluation.

The investigation into the crash continues.
