UB Police investigating attempted sexual assault


AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – Police at the University at Buffalo are investigating an attempted sexual assault on the North Campus.

Police say a female student was reportedly followed into her apartment in Amherst by an unknown man who then grabbed her from behind. The student managed to get away and lock herself in a bathroom until the man left around 11:00 p.m. Friday.

A University at Buffalo spokesperson tells News 4 that the victim was treated at a local hospital and released.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 40s, about 6-feet tall, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. He had short black hair and a piercing in his ear.

UB Police have increased patrols on campus near where the incident took place.
