BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A driver is accused of having more than six ounces of marijuana with him during a traffic checkpoint on East Amherst Street, Friday.

New York State Police say they spotted marijuana in 26-year-old Thomas Mayfield’s car console, while he was reaching for his registration. Troopers say he also had marijuana in his pants.

He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

Troopers were working with the Buffalo Strike Force Detail over the weekend when they made the arrest.
