Police locate stolen car during traffic stop

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – New York State Police stopped a vehicle for having tinted windows Friday, and discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen on Wednesday. Police say 21-year-old Dejaun Stafford, of Buffalo, was arrested.

Police say Stafford was stopped on Bailey Avenue. A plate check revealed the car had been reported stolen. They also discovered he had an active warranted out of the Town of Amherst, for third-degree assault.

Police say he was charged with third-degree unlawful use of motor vehicle, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

Stafford was taken to the Erie County Holding Center.
