Toys R Us killer’s sentencing postponed

Bernard Grucza

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Larry Wells’ family members showed up in court for his killer’s sentencing Monday, but left without closure.

A judge was supposed to sentence Bernard Grucza on manslaughter charges in the death of Toys R Us manager and co-worker Larry Wells. The court postponed his sentencing because he needs to be sentenced in a federal weapons case first.

In April, Grucza pleaded guilty to a weapons charge unrelated to the Toys R Us homicide. They did not issue a future sentencing date.

Prosecutors say Grucza killed Wells at the Hamburg Toys R Us last June.

Wells’ wife Jill doesn’t want her husband to be remembered as the man who was killed at Toys R Us. She wants him remembered as a loving dad who would do anything for his family.
