CATTARAUGUS, N.Y. (WIVB) – The rains have created big problems for drivers on a road in the southern tier. Route 353, in the Village of Cattaraugus, is caving in. Crews have already had to close part of the road.
Workers don’t know how long it will take to fix it. Workers inspected the area, Tuesday.
A woman who lives nearby says she is worried her house may sink in.
Suzanne Henderson said, “They’re allowing traffic to come through here and the road surface keeps giving way and giving way, and they keep taking material out of the side hill, the intent was to stabilize it, so the road surface would stop shifting, but I don’t think they anticipated what they got.”
You will want to avoid Route 353 in the Village of Cattaraugus if you can.
