Motorcyclist thrown off bike in crash with deer

EAST BETHANY, N.Y. (WIVB) - A motorcyclist was thrown off his bike Tuesday afternoon when a deer ran out of the woods and struck him. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, hit the front of his head on the ground and was taken to the hospital.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department says a motorcycle was headed southbound on Route 63, near Clapsaddle Road, when the deer ran into the road. The motorcyclist landed in the roadway, and his bike went sliding northbound.

Mercy Flight transported the victim to Erie County Medical Center with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. The victim’s name has not been released.
