Men learn sentences for driver robberies

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two men were sentenced Wednesday in connection to a string of robberies that investigators say led to the murder of a cab driver.

Rokym Knox and Dequan Bailey were sentenced on robbery charges Wednesday. Knox was charged to five years behind bars and five years post-release supervision, Bailey was sentenced to 10 years behind bars and five years post-release supervision.

The men robbed food delivery men and cab drivers in the city over a period of about three months. Investigators say the string of crimes led to the murder of cab driver Mazen Abdallah last year.

A jury already convicted defendants Maurice Howie and Sean Austin of murder in that case. Howie and Austin are expected to learn their sentences Thursday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
