No motor boats allowed this weekend in several Finger Lakes


CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (AP modified) – If you are heading out to the Finger Lakes this holiday weekend be aware that motorized boats being banned on three of the major lakes due to hazardous conditions caused by last week’s flooding.

Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero says the boating ban goes into effect at 8 a.m. Friday for Canandaigua and Honeoye lakes.

On Keuka Lake boaters face cangers from docks that have been knocked off their moorings and floating trees.   Motor boats also also been banned in that lake which is Yates County

Seneca Lake also has a  5 mph “no wake” rule in effect.

Water levels on the lakes are high after several inches of rain fell on the region during severe thunderstorms last week provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
