Disc golfers raise money for veterans

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. (WIVB) – Some avid disc golfers enjoyed the nice weather and threw some plastic on Saturday for a good cause.

The Veterans Organization at Niagara University held its second annual Memorial Day tournament.
All proceeds from the event go toward a scholarship fund to benefit returning military veterans who attend NU.

Tournament organizer Karl Hinterberger said, “Being a veteran myself, it only made sense that the organization tried to fill the scholarship so that it’s constantly distributing funds to needy veterans.”

Last year the tournament raise more than $1,000 for the fund. Each participant received a dog tag engraved with the name of a fallen hero from New York.
