LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) The Transit Drive-in has a brand new look with an old school feel. Friday, the 1950s style, neon lit marquee was lowered into place and lit up for the first time.

Rick Cohen, the owner of the Transit Drive-In, says the sign was designed and built by Lockport based, Ulrich’s Sign Co. Inc., and took 8 weeks to complete. The brightly lit sign is set to get even brighter in the next few weeks when the finishing touches are done to the neon lighting.

Back in October of 2013 a fiery crash heavily damaged the old marquee. A car struck the sign and a power pole before bursting into flames. Cohen says the sign, which was in place since the 1950s, was beyond repair. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
