Vigil held for 2013 homicide victim

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — One year after his death, relatives of William Blackmon III are asking police to provide them closure.

Investigators have said that someone shot and killed Blackmon on May 26, 2013 outside a convenience store at East Ferry Street and Moselle. They have not made an arrest in the case.

Blackmon’s sister Kim organized a vigil Monday night to mark the anniversary of his death, in the same location where he was shot.

“We’ve been in limbo for a year and I know other people who have been in limbo for longer than us – but we do need answers, the families need closure,” Kimberly Blackmon said.

She also said she plans to return to the site every year as long as she lives in her brother’s memory. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
