ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB)
New York Lieutenant Governor candidate Kathy Hochul may face primary opposition from a wealthy Democratic activist.
The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports Bill Samuels wants to run for the seat. He is the son of Howard Samuels, a New York native who invented the Hefty bag. He had an unsuccessful run for governor in 1974.
Samuels could be a prickly problem for the governor if he runs for lieutenant governor and wins the primary. He would then be Cuomo’s running mate in the general election.
