Man allegedly assaulted by police takes plea deal

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The man arrested in a cellphone video that sparked claims of police brutality pleaded guilty Wednesday to reduced charges.

John Willet pleaded guilty to misdemeanor heroin possession. He is seen in a video that appears to show a Buffalo Police officer assaulting him while he was handcuffed on the ground.

Willet faces up to a year in jail or three years probation when he is sentenced July 20 on the drug charge.
