Suspected bank bandit turns himself in

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – Amherst Police say a man suspected of robbing the M&T Bank on Main Street around 12:30 p.m. on Monday has turned himself in.

The included photos show the suspect at the bank. Police say the man, believed to be in his 60s, came into the bank, handed the teller a note, and then left the bank with an undetermined amount of money.

An initial search was unsuccessful, but police say the man later turned himself into Buffalo Police claiming he had robbed a bank in Amherst. Detectives then took him into custody.

The suspect’s name has not been released.
