YMCA to collect worn and tattered flags

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The YMCA is helping homeowners retire “Old Glory” in a proper manner to respect what the American flag stands for.

The eight area YMCA Buffalo Niagara locations will be collecting old worn and tattered flags from June 5–11, 2016. Flags will then be taken to Forest Lawn Cemetery for proper retirement. Flags can be donated at any YMCA Buffalo Niagara branch:

  • Delaware (open M-F – 6:00 am-9:30 pm, Sat 7am-6:30pm, Sun 7am – 4:30 pm) – 2564 Delaware Ave., North Buffalo
  • William-Emslie (open M-F – 7:00 am – 9:00 pm, Sat 9am-5pm) – 585 William Street, Buffalo
  • Ken-Ton (open M-F- 6:00 am – 9:30 pm, Sat 8am-8pm, Sun 8am-4pm ) – 535 Belmont Ave, Kenmore
  • Lancaster (open M-F- 8:00 am-5:00 pm) – 31 Central Ave., Lancaster
  • Independent Health Family Branch YMCA (open M-F – 5:00 am-10:30 pm, Sat 6:30 am – 7:00 pm, Sun 7am-7pm) – 150 Tech Dr., Amherst
  • Southtowns (open M-F – 5:00 am – 10:30 pm, Sat 6:30 am – 7:00 pm, Sun 7am-7pm) – 1620 Southwestern Blvd., West Seneca
  • YMCA Association Offices (open Monday-Friday 8:30 am -5:00 pm) – 301 Cayuga Rd., Cheektowaga
