YMCA to collect worn and tattered flags

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The YMCA is helping homeowners retire “Old Glory” in a proper manner to respect what the American flag stands for.

The eight area YMCA Buffalo Niagara locations will be collecting old worn and tattered flags from June 8–13, 2014. Flags will then be taken to Forest Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, June 14 for proper retirement. Flags can be donated at any YMCA Buffalo Niagara branch:

  •  Delaware (open 6:00 am-9:30 pm) – 2564 Delaware Ave., North Buffalo
  • William-Emslie (open 7:00 am – 9:00 pm) – 585 William Street, Buffalo
  • Ken-Ton (open 6:00 am – 9:30 pm) – 535 Belmont Ave, Kenmore
  • Lancaster (open 8:00 am-5:00 pm) – 31 Central Ave., Lancaster
  • Niagara Falls (open 5:00 am – 10:00 pm) – 1317 Portage Rd., Niagara Falls
  • Independent Health Family Branch YMCA (open 5:30 am-10:30 pm) – 150 Tech Dr., Amherst
  • Southtowns (open 5:30 am – 10:30 pm) – 1620 Southwestern Blvd., West Seneca
  • YMCA Association Offices (open 8:30 am -5:00 pm) – 301 Cayuga Rd., Cheektowaga
