Buffalo on top of list for “Staycations”

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo comes out on tops for cities that are great for a ‘staycation’ – in other words, a “stay-at-home vacation.”

Wallethub, the consumer financial website, surveyed cities for their opportunities like local recreation opportunities, public golf courses and swimming pools. Buffalo was at the top of the list, followed by Minneapolis.

The 2014 summer travel season is expected to be expensive with vacationers planning to spend an average of $1,246 per person this summer – a 9 percent increase from 2013. Most of the cost is due to a rise in hotel and airfare costs.
