Local Airman finishes basic training

airman graduates

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – News 4’s Student Spotlight wants to salute a western New York native who’s making his country, and hometown, proud.

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Keith Suarez just graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in Texas.

The intense, eight week program tested his physical fitness.  It also taught him Air Force core values as well as military skills and principles.

Suarez graduated from Buffalo’s Hutch-Tech High School in 2010.  By completing this basic training, he’s earned four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

If you know a student who’s doing something special, let us know about it.  Send us a picture or video to WakeUp@wivb.com and it could feature in News 4’s student spotlight.

The Student Spotlight airs weekdays during the 6 a.m. hour of Wake Up!
