Flatbed truck carrying liquid fertilizer crashes into home

STRYKERSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB)- A commercial truck carrying 15 tons of liquid fertilizer struck a house in Strykersville Saturday morning.

A 31-year-old Gainesville man was operating a flatbed, straight truck westbound on Minkel Road when he was unable to brake. The truck continued across Route 78 and struck the a residence on Route 78.  Occupants of the house were not injured.

The driver was transported by the Strykersville Ambulance and taken to the emergency room at the Wyoming County Community Health System for minor injuries. He was later discharged.

The Sheriff’s office says very little fertilizer was spilled, however, about 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled.

Charges have not been filed pending the outcome of the continuing investigation.
