Fundraiser supports push to keep CPC in place

WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) - A group that wants to keep a Children’s Psychiatric Center in West Seneca held a fundraiser Sunday.

Sunday Funday let families and former patients of the Western New York Children’s Psychiatric Center have some fun.

They got to enjoy music, refreshments and children’s activities featuring a storybook theme.

It’s a bit more serious for adults who still want the state to stop plans to move the young residents to the adult Buffalo Psychiatric Center.

“There’s just no way that it can be replicated, what the children already have in the Children’s Psychiatric Center. Just the surroundings, the facility itself, so much better, the building. Even with all the changes they’re going to be doing, it’s still going to be a hospital setting,” said Allison Scanlon, a woman whose child was treated at the CPC.

The fundraiser concludes Sunday at 8:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 8113 on Leydecker Road.
