Buffalo Common Council to reinstate Police Oversight Committee

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – At its Tuesday meeting, the Buffalo Common Council will reinstate the Police Oversight Committee.

This comes after two suspended police officers are being investigated for their roles at Molly’s Pub the night a man was pushed down a flight of stairs and injured. Three other Buffalo Police officers are accused of using excessive force and violating the civil rights of four teens.

The Common Council says the committee will not conduct investigations into individual claims of misconduct, but will make recommendations on broad policy changes to ensure there are no gaps in training, rules or laws.
