Driver allegedly pulled away from deputies at 143 mph

SPRINGVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – A driver is accused of pulling away from an Erie County Sheriff’s deputy, going through stop signs and traveling at 143 mph on Route 219 in the Town of Concord.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office reports 36-year-old Joseph Gambino of Springville was driving with extremely tinted windows and a loud muffler when police tried to stop him around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies say he pulled away from patrol, made a U-turn and continued on Route 219 until he got off on Genesee Road. A deputy couldn’t pursue him because of his unsafe speed, and coordinated with other deputies to stop him.

Gambino was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawfully fleeing police in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and numerous violations. The vehicle was allegedly uninspected.
