Mark Polancarz

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A homeless shelter for women and children is opening at 586 Genesee Street.

Hope House has 50 beds for women and children. The former daycare center was remodeled to provide emergency housing, and to provide wraparound services designed to reduce trauma on children and quickly return families to permanent housing.

County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz, Commissioner of Social Services Carol Dankert-Maurer, Executive Director of the Lt. Col. Matt Urban Human Services Center Marlies A. Wesolowski, and concerned citizens will be at the ribbon cutting at 2 p.m.
