BUFFALO, N.Y.(WIVB) – Two Buffalo organizations are asking residents to donate basic home and garden tools that can be used by block clubs and neighborhood groups for large scale community projects.

The University Heights Tool Library and Keep WNY Beautiful are joining forces to collect tools at a “Toolraiser” Saturday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Foundry, 298 Northampton Street in Buffalo.

In a prepared statement, the groups say they hope to empower local residents to “turn ideas into plans of action for their communities.” The tools would be used for projects such as neighborhood cleanups, tree plantings, community gardens and beautification efforts.

The organizers are seeking all types of tools, but their wishlist specifically includes: shovels, rakes, brooms, wheelbarrows, trowels, sledgehammers, pruners, loppers, and drills.
