BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Kaleida Health has named an interim director of HighPointe on Michigan, a long-term nursing care facility.
Dr. Eugene Gonsiorek accepted the leadership role. Gonsiorek is coming from Autumn View Health Care Facility, a Hamburg-area subsidiary of the McGuire Group.
Wednesday, Kaleida Health President and CEO Jody L. Lomeo said in a prepared statement, “In our quest to provide the very best care for the residents that we serve at HighPointe on Michigan, administration has been working alongside human resources, nursing, operations and staff over the past few months to make significant improvements. We are improving quality of care as well as accountability of both management and front line staff at the facility. With that, I am pleased to announce that Eugene Gonsiorek, PhD, has accepted the leadership role as director of HighPointe on an interim basis.”
In April, 17 workers were fired from the facility amid allegations of mistreatment. Kaleida Health said they terminated employees for neglectful care of one resident.The Attorney General’s Office did not reveal details about the complaints or charges.
