Man with two prior DWI convictions facing third DWI charge

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A man with two previous felony DWI convictions is facing a third DWI charge after being stopped just before 8 a.m. Tuesday on I-190.

Troopers pulled Mark Abbott of Buffalo over after receiving a report of an erratic driver and witnessing the 57-year-old make multiple traffic infractions.

State Police say Abbott exhibited clear signs of intoxication and refused to cooperate with the investigation. When being placed under arrest, troopers say Abbott physically resisted and attempted to flee the scene.

Abbott was quickly taken into custody. He is charged with felony DWI, resisting arrest, second degree obstruction of governmental administration and refusing to take a breath test.

After being arraigned, he was taken to the Erie County Holding Center without bail. He’s due back in court next week. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
