BUFFALO, NY (WIVB) - Former Niagara University standout Antoine Mason has told News 4 Sports Lauren Brill that he has committed himself to play for Auburn University.

“It just seemed like the perfect fit,” said Mason on Wednesday morning.

Last year Mason led the nation in scoring, averaging 25.6 points. He finished his career at Niagara as the program’s third-leading all-time scorer.

Mason was considering transferring to several programs including Providence and Boston College. In the end he chose Auburn where he will be eligible to play immediately.

“The team has a lot to prove this year with Bruce (Pearl) as head coach and I feel the same way. I have a lot to prove,” Mason explained.

Mason is the son of former NBA star Anthony Mason, who played 13 seasons in the league.
