CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Construction of a $4 million state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery unit is complete at the St. Joseph Campus of Sisters of Charity Hospital.

The ASU has about 10,400-square feet of new and renovated space, which includes three operating rooms, a waiting area with a pediatric waiting area and pre- and post-operation patient holding areas. An elevator will allow patients to enter the facility and move right up to the ASU.

“We have a clinically advanced center for outpatient surgery that focuses on the patient experience and convenience,” said Martin Boryszak, COO for Sisters Hospital, in a press release.

There was a special blessing and dedication ceremony Thursday afternoon, before surgeries begin in the unit on Monday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
