SCIO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Wellsville man allegedly injured a state trooper while resisting arrest after a traffic stop in the Town of Scio.

State Police were investigating a report of a stolen vehicle when they caught up to 44-year-old Chad Mulholland in Scio. Authorities say they stopped Mulholland, but while he was being taken into custody, he resisted arrest, causing injuries to a trooper’s right arm and hand.

Mulholland is facing several charges, including second degree assault, resisting arrest, fourth and fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Troopers say they found other stolen items inside the vehicle and learned Mulholland was driving drunk on a license that had been revoked due to prior DWI convictions.

He was additionally charged with felony DWI, first degree felony aggravated unlicensed operation, using a vehicle without an interlock ignition device and refusal to take a breath test.

Mulholland was taken to the Allegany County Jail on $50,000 bail.
