Student attends Q&A session at White House

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – A local student is back in Western New York Thursday morning, after a whirlwind trip to Washington D.C.

Sweet Home senior Becky Jasen sent photos from her trip to News 4. She was selected to attend a question and answer session with the President Barack Obama about college affordability.

The president has been expanding measures this week aimed at easing the debt burden for college graduates. Becky, who plans to attend RIT, expects to graduate from college with $60,000 in debt. She says she doesn’t believe there will be significant policy changes in time to ease her debt load, but she thinks she did what she could to raise awareness of the problem.

She says the quick visit to the White House Tuesday exceeded her expectations. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
