Workers to call on lawmakers to raise minimum wage

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Workers across New York State are banding together to call on lawmakers to raise the minimum wage.

Locally, there will be a rally outside the McDonald’s on Niagara Street at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

This isn’t the first time local workers have joined the fight. There was a similar demonstration in December.

Activists also want the governor to pass local wage authority, which would give individual localities the ability to set their own minimum wage. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
