WHEATFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) – A North Tonawanda man was arrested after being stopped by State Police for allegedly not wearing a seat belt and using his cell phone while driving.

Troopers pulled John Cobernus over on Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Town of Wheatfield on Thursday. Police say they could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle, and later located a glass smoking device and 60 pills of various controlled substances.

The 21-year-old was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, not wearing a seat belt, and using a cell phone while driving.

He is due back in court later this month.
