Police share safety tips for weekend events

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – There are several events this weekend in the Queen City, including Allentown Art Festival, Juneteenth, the Susan G. Komen walk and other events that will draw thousands into the city.

Buffalo Police are releasing tips for people to stay safe in the crowds. Security measures, including extra officers, will be in place this weekend.

Police offer this advice:

– Arrive early to help ensure a safe parking location
– Motorists should not to park in crosswalks, near fire hydrants or block driveways
– Before you arrive at your destination make sure any valuables, including money, electronics, purses, etc. are stored away and not visible in your vehicle
– Make sure vehicle doors are locked
– Remind everyone to be aware of their surroundings and personal belongings
