Teen charged with felony DWI after crash injures friends

ANDOVER, N.Y. (WIVB) – State Police say a one-car crash in the Town of Andover has left a 15-year-old in guarded condition.

On Friday, troopers were called to an accident on Rt. 22. Police identified 17-year-old Andrew Carlin II of Scio as the driver of the vehicle and say he admitted consuming alcohol before operating the car.

Carlin and one of his passengers, age 13, were taken to Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, where they were treated and later released. A 15-year-old passenger was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, where police say the passenger is listed in guarded condition.

Carlin is charged with felony aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law, vehicular assault and additional vehicle and traffic violations.
