Cruise for war heroes in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Miss Buffalo 2 was transformed into a cruise for war heroes, Saturday. Nearly 200 vets embarked on the “Disabled American Veterans rehabilitation cruise”, sailing on Lake Erie.

After the cruise, they were treated to a catered lunch on the fan tail of the U.S.S. Little Rock. It’s a valued day of rest and relaxation for the group of disabled veterans.

“They can explore all the Naval Ships, they can explore the new Canal Side, the great happenings around downtown Buffalo, this is a chance to really connect with our veterans and give them some camaraderie and just a chance to settle down and forget about their worries for the day,” said Brian Held, DAV commander.

4 Warn Weather Chief Meteorologist Don Paul traveled along with the vets for the cruise. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
