GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – A pair of Western New York softball teams are bringing home state championships today, with Eden and Williamsville South both winning titles – in very different ways.
Eden was the first to capture the Class B crown, with a 1-0 win in eight innings over Solvay in the title game. Jill Murray pitched a no-hitter in the championship. Earlier in the day, Eden staged a late rally in the state semifinals, beating Moriches 4-3.
In the Class A championship, Williamsville South left no doubt, pounding Sayville 21-4. Much like Eden, it took a comeback win in the semi’s to get to that point, with the Billies beating Troy 7-6 to advance.
