Flag Day at Forest Lawn Cemetery

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo honored Old Glory on Flag Day. A special ceremony was held Saturday afternoon at Forest Lawn Cemetery near the gravesite of Flag Day’s co-founder, Sara Hinson.

The Boy and Girl Scouts were there to help properly retire “old or worn flags.” A group from the Smithsonian Museum of American History sang the national anthem to commemorate the song’s 200th anniversary.

President Harry S Truman signed Flag Day legislation into law declaring June 14 as Flag Day.
