Hours-long police standoff ends in arrest

AMITY, N.Y. (WIVB) – New York State Police have arrested a man from Amity, after a standoff with New York State Troopers.

Police say on Saturday, 36-year-old Reuben Stocking ran into the woods behind his home on Ackerman Hill Road with a gun before troopers arrived on reports of a physical altercation.

Authorities say after they arrived and the victims were removed from the home, Stocking returned to the home and refused to leave. Hours later, the standoff came to a peaceful end.

Stocking is charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and endangering the welfare of a child. He was taken to the Allegany County Jail on $10,000 bail.
