NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A North Tonawanda man has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $215,000 from his 87-year-old aunt.

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office says 64-year-old Donald E. Gubbins pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree grand larceny. Gubbins stole the money between January 2008 and January 2014 by abusing his power as Power of Attorney over the elderly woman.

He claims that most of the money he embezzled was to keep his business out of debt.

Gubbins could face a maximum of 15 years in state prison. He will learn his sentence in October.
