DUNKIRK, N.Y. (WIVB) – State Police have charged a woman with animal cruelty for allegedly locking her dog inside her hot vehicle.

Troopers took Rachelle Potter of Silver Creek into custody last Thursday on Vineyard Drive in the Town of Dunkirk. Police say the 45-year-old left her dog inside her locked vehicle with the windows up in extreme heat conditions.

She is due back in court later this month.
