BCBS offers bike sharing program to employees

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Blue Cross and Blue Shield employees have a new option to travel in Buffalo.

The company has a new bike sharing program. Workers can borrow the bikes to take a ride to lunch, run an errand, or just enjoy a ride during a break.

Company leaders say it’s all about giving their employees healthier options.

HealthNow President and CEO Dave Anderson said, “We’re starting with about 20 bikes. These are specially modified hybrid bikes. They’re very safe, and very adjustable so everyone can use them. We’re thinking, depending on how well they’re used, we’re thinking that we might go up to about 50.”

Leaders say this goes well with the push for the Queen City to become more bike-friendly.
