BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Buffalo School Board is focusing on the district’s troubled schools during the first of two work sessions with parents.
Parent groups will have the opportunity to help develop the district’s new turnaround plan, which is required by the State EducationD Department. Tuesday’s work session runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Stanley M. Makowski Early Childhood Center.
The work sessions comes the day after the board named a new interim superintendent to replace outgoing superintendent Dr. Pamela Brown. Will Keresztes, chief of student support services, will serve as temporary superintendent.
The Buffalo School Board voted 7-2 to buy out the last year of Brown’s contract for about $230,000, which is about what she would’ve received if she had stayed until the end of her contract, plus an additional $2,000 to consult her replacement over the next two months.
