Some parents don’t want to see school’s parking lot expanded

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – Parents from the Frontier Central School District came out in force to fight for green-space that’s now in jeopardy at Cloverbank Elementary School.

One parent presented the school board with a petition against the proposed $60,000 parking lot expansion that calls for trees to be cut down on the leafy school grounds.

Jeremy Rosen said, “There has never been a safety issue, never been a problem. You’re going to take one of the things that everyone loves about Cloverbank away – the green space.”

Many parents say they are upset because the school board did not contact them about the change and they feel the money can be better spent elsewhere.

Tuesday night, the board voted to rescind their decision to build the parking lot. A special meeting that is open to the public will be held at 7 p.m. on June 24 to determine what happens next.
