Brothers of Mercy opens dedicated Hospice unit

CLARENCE, N.Y. (WIVB) – Brothers of Mercy held a ribbon cutting for Hospice Buffalo Mercy Care at their nursing and rehab center on Bergtold Road in Clarence on Wednesday.

This is the third dedicated Hospice space in Erie County and will make the transition to end of life care easier for people who are already at Brothers of Mercy.

Hospice Buffalo CEO Patricia Ahern said, “We think that it’s an important way to go for the future because we don’t want to interrupt a patient, or a resident, and cause them to go somewhere else, for their end of life care, because they’ve lived here, for many years, and the staff here know them very well.”

The Hospice Care center has 10-beds ready to serve patients and their families. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
