Buses weren’t waiting for students on Monday

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Some students had to seek alternate rides home when NFTA buses didn’t show up to their high schools on Monday.

Temporary Buffalo School Superintendent Will Keresztes says there was a miscommunication and the NFTA. The transportation authority believed Regents exams began Monday and bus service would not be needed. But the exams actually began Tuesday.

When students left school on Monday, they had to seek alternate rides by using their bus passes to access nearby stops. At least one student walked home.

Keresztes said he will be calling the home of that student to apologize and adds, “I appreciate the swift response from our transportation department in addressing the situation with the NFTA and am sure that the situation will not repeat itself in the future.”
