Grand Island man charged with felony DWI

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Grand Island man was arrested by Erie County Sheriff’s deptuies for felony DWI Tuesday night.

Deputies say 32-year-old Michael Siminski drove past them on Whitehaven Road at a high rate of speed. The deputies attempted to follow him and say he was going about 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.

They observed him pulling into a driveway on Whitehaven and got out of his vehicle and walked into the house despite orders from the deputy to return. Deputies got Siminski to come out of the house and it was determined he was highly intoxicated.

Siminski was charged with DWI and multiple traffic infractions including having an open container of alcohol in his car. Siminski refused all sobriety tests.

It was later discovered that Siminski had a prior DWI conviction making the DWI charge a felony.

Siminski was taken to the Erie County Holding Center and held for arraignment in Town of Grand Island Court.
