ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – Police have charged an Orchard Park man with stealing three vehicles, setting one of those on fire, and breaking into two trucks.
Three vehicles were stolen from Accent Stripe on North Benzing Road in Orchard Park over a period of around two weeks. The first was found burning in a field behind the Lowe’s on Southwestern Boulevard on June 2. The second vehicle was stolen from the business and returned in damaged condition hours later. And a third was found in a field off Lake Avenue in the Town of Hamburg minus a sub woofer.
Then sometime between June 14 and June 16, two GPS units were stolen from two trucks at Brown’s General Dump Truck Service on North Benzing Road.
Detectives closed in on their suspect, 22-year-old Jeffrey Ciesla, and Tuesday afternoon raided his home on Iroquois Drive in Orchard Park. Inside police say they found the two stolen GPS units and the missing sub woofer, as well as marijuana.
Police say they determined Ciesla intentionally set the first vehicle he stole on fire.
He is charged with six felonies for theft, arson, damage and possession of three stolen vehicles, three misdemeanors for unauthorized use of motor vehicles, one misdemeanor for the theft of the GPS units, as well as third degree criminal trespass, unlawful possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.
Police believe Ciesla may not have acted alone and say additional charges are pending.
