Village consolidates water system with county

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) – Williamsville will soon be officially out of the water business.

The village is officially turning its water system over to the Erie County Water Authority.

Over the last two years, the village has invested $3 million into consolidating the systems. Officials say this will cut costs on system maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.

The move is expected to cut costs over time. The new rate for residents will be $4.87 per 1,000 gallons, which is 94 cents lower than the current rate. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
