Driver loses control of car, crashes into transit bus

WARSAW, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Batavia woman lost control of her vehicle Wednesday in a North Warsaw shopping plaza, and crashed her car into a transit bus.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office says 59-year-old Alfreda Sawdey was pulling into a restaurant on State Route 19 when her vehicle went over a median and into the roadway of the plaza.

The sheriff’s office says Sawdey’s vehicle struck the transit bus, causing significant damage to both vehicles. The vehicles were towed away from the scene.

The bus driver was alone inside the vehicle and Sawdey had one passenger. There is no report of any serious injuries.

Sawdey was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield the right of way. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
